We're Going to Disney World!!!
When I come back from one trip, I immediately start thinking about when I can go again, start planning in my head, and start counting the days.
And I am so excited that we are now in the single digits to our next Walt Disney World vacation!!!!
Our last Walt Disney World vacation was over Thanksgiving in 2011. It was my first time traveling with my little family, the first time traveling with a child. And it was quite the learning experience! I'm taking what I learned that time, and applying it to our experience this time. A few things we are doing differently:
1. We are going for a full week. Wednesday to Wednesday. After our short 5 day trip over a very busy holiday, I determined I would never got for less than a week again unless I were going on my own, or on an adult only trip. Going for a full week will allow for relaxing travel days, plenty of time to see what we want to see, and even a few built in relaxation days.
2. We built in relaxation days. Our trip falls over the weekend of the runDisney Tower of Terror 10 Miler weekend. The beauty of going in October is the fact that the crowd levels are historically so low, that this event will not increase the crowd levels to be out of control, but because we will be there for a week, we can take the weekend to lay by the pool, stroll the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney, and just have a few days of general relaxation. I'm very excited.
3. We are going at a quiet time of year. October is by far my favorite time of year to go to Walt Disney World. Crowd levels are low, wait times are short, and two of my very favorite special events - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival - are going on.We are not going to MNSSHP this time around, but rest assured we will be taking full advantage of the Food and Wine Festival when in Epcot, and I cannot wait.
4. Less dining experiences, no Disney Dining Plan. Last time we went to Walt Disney World, we had so many snacks and even a few counter service meals remaining at the end of our trip. We determined that the DDP is no longer a good value for our family. Not only do we just not eat that much, but being Disney Vacation Club Members, we now always stay in a villa with a full kitchen. We will typically have breakfast in our room and this time around we even plan on doing a couple lunches there. We will be getting a grocery delivery for the week from Garden Grocer, and have chosen 3 stellar table service experiences, two of which will become family traditions for every trip. Boma for our first evening, 'Ohana for our last evening, and Saturday night we will go to Raglan Road. Very excited.
I am also very excited about the fact that we got chosen to test MyMagic+ while we are there!! Our magic bands arrived, and I have booked our FastPass+ times.
I will admit, I was sort of on the fence about FastPass+. Because October is such an historically low crowd time for Walt Disney World, it is typical for lines and wait times to be rather short. However, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take full advantage of MyMagic+, so I booked fastpasses for a few character greetings, and a few must do rides. I have to admit...I'm sort of geeking out over this technology and can't wait to write a full report after our trip.
Stay tuned when we return!! I'll be writing all about our experiences, and I'm sure I will learn even more about traveling to Walt Disney World with a child who is now mobile...knows what he wants...and is not afraid to show it!!
Have a magical day (I can't wait to hear that phrase again!)!!
